A Gavel meeting is always a cause for celebration. The 244th gathering of UoM Gaveliers was no exception. In fact, it was a cause for more celebration than usual. With the happy news of our siblings performing excellently in the CIMA GBC and the AIBS, the Gavel family flocked to the ENTC PG seminar room on 14th of May with more joviality.
The presence of many promising newcomers added to the excitement in the atmosphere. Starting off the proceedings, the President briefly introduced the club to them. “This is not only a place where people win competitions and develop public speaking skills. You become part of a family that takes care of each and every one of you”, was the gist of his introduction.
Breaking away from the norm, the Toastmaster of the day, Kasun Kodithuwakku, led the Round Robin Session in a creative story building style that brought forth many a peal of laughter. Moving on to the Table topics session led by Namal Anuradha, the Gaveliers shared diverse experiences. It was a delight to behold how they brought out profound messages with simple, yet moving stories.
After the Timer’s report and the Ah counter’s report were read, the Table Topics evaluators Thilina Madumal and Vibhanu Arachchige made comprehensive and helpful evaluations on the speeches. The Grammarian’s report and the General Evaluator’s report were read after handing over the control to the Toastmaster.
Thus, we departed with hopes of meeting soon at the next celebration: the 245th meeting and the Mother’s day theme meeting of our beloved Gavel family.
